According to the recent press release by Canalys, in the first quarter of 2013, Google play has received the highest download which is 51% of 13.4 billion downloads received among major app stores such as Google Play, Apple’s App Store, Blackberry World and Windows Phone Store.  A total of 13.4 billion apps were downloaded worldwide in these app stores generating a whopping $2.2 billion in app revenue. The highest revenue earner, however, was Apple App Store earning over 70% of total App revenue.

Blackberry Store currently has 100,000 apps and is expected to attain steady growth in the days ahead.  Apple App store has 775,000 apps and Google Play will become the first store with a million apps by June this year.
