Apple’s newest app wants you to provide feedback on Siri so the voice-activated assistant can get better.
Initially spotted by TechCrunch, the new app, which became available earlier this month, is called Siri Speech Study. It asks you to share your Siri voice requests with Apple and provide any feedback you may have about your experience with Siri.
The app is available for iOS users in the US, Canada, Germany, France, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, and Taiwan, so it appears the Siri study will be a broad one.
However, there is one caveat: you must be invited to the study in order to participate. It’s unclear how to get invited to the study. Lifewire reached out to Apple to find out, and will update this story when we receive a response.
Siri is also getting significant upgrades in the iOS 15 update coming this fall. One of them is Siri Knowledge in Photos, which will allow Siri to recognize what’s in a picture. So, for example, if it’s a photo of a flower, Siri will be able to tell you what kind of flower it is.
Apple’s voice assistant also recently saw new features in the iOS 14.5 system update in April in the form of new Siri voices. More importantly, Siri no longer defaults to a male or female voice.
Instead, new users will have to choose a voice when they set up their device, and the voices are listed as Voice 1 or Voice 2, rather than as male or female.
