ASUS just unveiled a new 31.5-inch 4K monitor with an impressive 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution with a 16:9 aspect ratio and 140-ppi (pixels per inch). This is the dream monitor for video editors. The PQ231 packs a 10-bit RGB technology for deep color, LED backlight, dual-HDMI ports, 176-degree viewing angles, 8ms GTG response time and 350 cd/m2 brightness.
As extra features this 4K monitor has built-in speakers (2W), although I doubt you would want to use them, tilt and swivel adjustments. Also the display is only 35mm thick, which makes the ASUS PQ231 the world thinnest 4K Ultra HD monitor today.
Using this monitor will require to have at least a mid-range graphic card, most AMD Radeon HD 6000 or greater series and any Nvidia’s GeForce 600 should be able to drive this huge monitor.
This is not all, according to Mashable, ASUS also plans on revealing a 39-inch monitor, at Computex 2013 in Taipei. Anyone planning to grab one of these monster monitors won’t have to wait a very long time. The 31.5-inch 4K will be available at the end of June in the U.S.. The only thing we don’t know is what will be the price tag.
