If you own one of the first generation of Microsoft Surface and you’re planning to switch to a Surface 2 or Surface Pro 2, you’ll be happy to hear that Best Buy is running a trade-in program. The electronics retailer is willing to give you up to $350 when decommissioning a working tablet, the minimum you’ll get is $200. Keep in mind that you won’t be getting cash or a check, just a gift card, however still a good deal.

The trade-in promotion is only valid until 10/21/2013 at physical stores. Not all Best Buy location participate, so check the source link for more details. In order for the retailer to take your Surface RT or Pro, the device must power on, the screen cannot be cracked, and be free of liquids.

This offer may not give you the most money you might expect, but it’s a good way to get rid of the device just in time to buy one of the second generation.

Update: Do you know how much your used Surface is worth when you trade it in?

  • Surface Pro 128GB: Good $350, fair $245, and poor $157.50
  • Surface Pro 64GB: Good $315, fair $220, and poor $141.75
  • Surface RT 32GB: Good $150, fair $105, and poor $67.50
  • Surface RT 64GB: Good $175, fair $122.50, and poor $78.75

Although this program is quick way to make money out of your used tablet. Now that I see the list, I cannot believe someone would want to trade in their tablet, even more for those who own a 128GB version.
